Indenture made 24 March 1656, Between William Rode of Congleton Shoomaker on the one part, and John Okes of Shanwick, Yeoman of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Rode, in consideration of the receipt of the sum of £43, hath sold and demised to the said John Okes, his heirs, and assigns for ever, all those three messuages, burgages, and tenements in Congleton aforesaid neere unto the Market place there and abuttinge uppon the north side of the Crosse or Crosse place in Congleton, which said Messuages were lately in the tenure of William Rode. To hold the same for ever without any condition.
