CTH 2/50

Indenture made between Simon Foxholys, mayor of the town of Congleton, with the consent and assent of the burgesses of the said town of the one part, and Sir James Spencer, knight and alderman of London of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Simon with the assent of the said burgesses has demised to farm to the aforesaid James Spencer, the half burgage, with the buildings upon it with their appurtenances, lying in the said town of Congleton between the land of the aforesaid James on the south and north parts and the High Street on the east, now in the tenure of a certain Oliver Heyworth, to have and to hold to the said James forever, paying annually to the said mayor and community 2/5d. These being witnesses:- the aforesaid mayor, John Wagge bailiff of the said town, Ralph Roode, John Walker, John Hobson, aldermen of the said town, and others.
