Charter (indented) by which John Barker, mayor of Congulton, with the common assent of the burgesses, gives and confirms to Hugh Moreton, draper, one meadow and its appurtenances lying near the water of Dane between the land of Sir Lawrence Fyton, knight, of the one part and the land of Thomas Wylbram of the other part; to have and to hold etc to the said Hugh, his heirs, and assigns forever, paying annually to John Barker and his successors mayors of the town, six shillings and eight pence at the two terms of the year, viz the feast of the nativity of St John the Baptist [24 June] and the feast of St Martin [11 November] by equal portions.

Dated at Congulton the feast of St Martin in the winter, 34 Henry VI [11 November 1455].
